Yes. The road to Huntshoek is generally accessible with a standard passenger vehicle, and many of our guests visit us in everyday cars without any issues.

However, following heavy rainfall, sections of the road can become muddy and more challenging to navigate. While a higher-clearance vehicle is recommended during these conditions, it is not a requirement. If you're planning to visit after wet weather and have any concerns, we encourage you to contact our bookings team before travelling. We'll be happy to advise you on the current road conditions and help ensure you have a safe and comfortable journey to Huntshoek.

Meals are included with our Fully Catered accommodation, where guests enjoy dinner, bed, and breakfast, allowing you to relax and make the most of your stay without worrying about meal preparation.

Our Self-Catering accommodation is ideal for guests who prefer the flexibility of preparing their own meals. Most self-catering units include a kitchenette, while guests staying on the self-catering side also have access to a fully equipped communal kitchen and dining area.

For added convenience, frozen meals are available for purchase on request across all accommodation options, whether you're staying in our fully catered lodges, self-catering chalets, luxury tented camp, or Stone Cottage. No. Self-guided game drives are not permitted at Huntshoek. All safari drives must be arranged through management and are conducted with an experienced guide. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of both our guests and the wildlife that calls Huntshoek home.

For your own safety, please remain inside your vehicle at all times during game drives unless instructed otherwise by your guide. While our wildlife may appear calm, these are wild, untamed animals and can behave unpredictably. Even seemingly gentle species, such as giraffes, are capable of causing serious injury if approached too closely.

Rainy days offer the perfect opportunity to slow down and embrace the peaceful atmosphere of Huntshoek. While wet weather can make parts of the reserve muddy and limit some outdoor activities, there are still plenty of ways to relax and enjoy your stay.

Please note that there are no televisions in any of the guest accommodation, allowing you to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the bush. Guests are welcome to enjoy a selection of board games, a game of darts or pool, or relax in the communal lounge on the fully catered Huntshoek Lodge side, where a large television is available. It's also the perfect time to curl up with a good book, enjoy a warm drink, or simply take in the sights and sounds of nature from the comfort of your accommodation.

Yes. All activities and experiences at Huntshoek must be booked or arranged through our management team. This allows us to ensure the safety of our guests, protect the reserve and its wildlife, and prepare everything needed for your chosen experience.

Huntshoek experiences distinct seasons, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the bush throughout the year. During the summer months, temperatures can reach 40°C, making for warm, sunny days. To ensure your comfort, air conditioning is available in all fully catered accommodation, while freestanding fans are provided in the self-catering units.

During winter, mornings and evenings can become quite chilly. To keep you warm and comfortable, all beds in both our fully catered and self-catering accommodation are fitted with electric blankets. Hot water is available throughout the year, ensuring a comfortable stay no matter the season.

We recommend packing comfortable clothing, sturdy walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars and a camera to make the most of your stay. During winter, warm clothing is essential for cool mornings and evenings, while summer guests should prepare for hot daytime temperatures.
